Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz professionally known by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter after her hometown. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father and mother have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. The actress has a younger brother Uria and half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder moved with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. In those days, there was no electricity. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time reading books because there was no TV. In 1983 when she was 12 years old, Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Lucas was released in 1986 and Ryder, then barely 15 years old, landed an acting job as a lead actor. Ryder faced bullying during her teenage years. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actress could help. However, the plan didn't pan out. But that didn't stop her pursuing dreams. Beetlejuice which was a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major break. Ryder played roles that were successful in several movies. In 1993, she was nominated twice for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part in The Age of Innocence.
